Pie Iron Philly Cheesesteak

Who knew you could cook a Philly Cheesesteak over a campfire?

Equipment

  • Pie Irons

Ingredients

  • 1/4 lb steak sliced
  • 1/2 med onion diced
  • 1 med green bell pepper diced
  • 4 slices Provolone cheese
  • 4 slices sandwich bread
  • olive oil
  • butter

Instructions

  • (Optional) Preheat your pie irons over the fire while getting your supplies ready.
  • Oil your double pie iron on both sides. Insert steak, peppers, and onion, then close and place on campfire.
  • Cook for 5-10 minutes, flipping regularly. Remove when steak is at your preferred doneness.
  • Butter two single pie irons or another double on both sides. (If you don't have enough pie irons, you will need to do this in batches.)
  • Place one slice of bread on each side of pie irons.
  • Layer steak, pepper, and onions on one side. Place 1-2 slices of cheese on other side.
  • Close the pie irons and place on the fire. Cook for3-5 minutes to allow cheese to melt and bread to get toasty.
